Business Register and professional registers
Historically, the main duty of the Chambers of Commerce is to provide enterprises with services linked to their needs of certification and registering.
These services consist in, for example, keeping the Business Register, the professional registers, the Index of Economic and Administrative Information (REA in Italian), boards and other listings.
In the past few years the updating of the Business Register, as well as of the administrative tasks in general, has been striving for simplification of the procedures and reduction of the bureaucratic burden. To achieve this goal, the complete computerization of the procedures in under way. E-government policies are also being studied.
The outcome of this process is evident in the remarkable improvement that took place at the Chamber of Parma: files are dealt with more quickly and are mostly submitted through the Internet. Moreover, from April, 1st, 2010 all files concerning the Business Register or the REA will have to be submitted exclusively online.
